Anxiety Depression Treatment and Cognitive-behavioral approaches, developed more recently, also treat panic attacks directly. These treatments involve cognitive restructuring, that is, changing of maladaptive thought processes and are generally used in combination with a variety of behavioral techniques, including breathing retraining and activities that target exposure to bodily sensations and external phobic situations.
Another consideration and certainly something that has helped me in the past, is the use of relaxation tapes and specialised hypnotic courses.
I still use the Linden Method to this day and it helped me through an extremely bad Anxiety Attack a couple of years ago.
